Twelve South consists of a small team and aims to design, produce, and manufacture a limited number of carefully selected new accessories for Apple products each year. Their motto is: “We’re not just Mac friendly, we’re Apple only.”

The company was founded in 2009 by the married couple Andrew and Leigh Ann Green in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. In 2017, they relocated their operations to Charleston, South Carolina.

In June 2012, Forbes suggested that Apple should acquire both Twelve South and the accessory manufacturer Mophie—not because of the companies’ profits, but because the high-quality products they create would strengthen Apple’s own position in the accessories market.
